Wanted to purchase a fishing boat but wasn't sure what I wanted. After talking to a couple of friends I decided to look at Matteson marine. They carried Lund,Alumacraft and Ranger. Which were the top fishing boats that I reasurched. I could see all of these in one stop.after talking to Kevin he was able to guide me through a smooth buying experience. I decided on the Lund 1775 Impact with a 115 Mercury. I would really like to thank Kevin and the guys for their no pressure tactics and helping me with our purchase. We purchase our new 2017 South Bay from Vaughn Mills at the 2017 boat show at Devos Place, Vaughn was very willing to help us with all our questions, he made us a fantastic deal on the package we wanted. We picked it up April 15, the entire dealership was friendly and treated us like we were their only customers (even though they had 5 more deliveries that day). Amazing customer service. So I was stranded out on the lake the other day. I had a dead battery. So I called up mattesons and a nice gentleman answered the phone and said I will be there soon to help. They came out on there brought me a new battery and installed it for me. What great service. they saved the day with a new battery and a smile thank you Cyle and to the other gentleman driving the boat. You both saved the day!

I just want to say how amazed my wife and I are at the quality of the people at this company. First of all it is truly a family that runs this...they are almost all Mattesons so there is a real trust level here we have not felt at other dealerships. This family business goes back several generations! Long story short, we purchased a 2019 Tri-toon and had it custom made with some special features, colors, lighting package, trim package, and even an engine that they wouldn't normally order on a boat and they not only ordered it for us like that, but they never even asked us to sign anything or put any money down until the boat actually was in the water already! I am in real estate and that just doesn't happen in my line of work so I was kind of in shock...I kept calling Kyle the boat sales manager to make sure we were okay :-) Because we custom ordered this boat, after 2 months of use it had a major issue that was solely the responsibility of the manufacturer for the custom engine we asked Matteson Marine to put on for us. We are SO GLAD we bought from a dealership actually on Gun Lake or we would have been in a world of hurt when our custom engine blew a piston and Kyle Matteson came right out and rescued us. When the manufacturer had delay replacing the engine, these guys took amazing care of us the entire time and loaned us a new boat that was a perfect temporary replacement for the one we just bought brand new! Next time we buy a boat we are just going to take Kyle's recommendation! We have gotten to meet almost everyone now at the place and every one of them is top notch and about the nicest folks we've ever had the pleasure to meet. My wife and I just can't recommend them enough!

Over the span of 25 years, we have owned a home on Gun Lake. For all of our boating needs throughout these years, we have turned to Matteson Marine. In 2010, we purchased a new South Bay Pontoon boat from Kevin, and each off season, we also stored it with Kevin and his competent crew. It is a beautiful boat and it was always given first class care from Matteson. Kevin and all the folks at Matteson Marine have been wonderful to work with, whether it be purchases or service. We highly recommend Matteson Marine to anyone thinking of making a major purchase such as a boat. Kevin is an extremely knowledgeable, competent and honest businessman/gentleman, a rare find these days. Without a doubt, the best in the business!

I recently purchase a new South Bay pontoon from the team at Matteson and it was the best new boat buying experience I have had! Matteson is 4.5 hours from my home, so I had a long Drive there and back. But the team was so helpful and friendly. The price was great, no documentation fees or any hidden costs. I wrote a check and the deal was done. There was one niggling seat issue, but they jumped right on it and got it fixed quickly so I could get back on the road. They also helped adjust the bunks on my old trailer, even though I had the tools to do it. When we loaded it onto my old trailer, Vaughan noticed the wheel hubs had no grease covers and looked a bit dry, so he got a couple of new grease covers, repacked the bearings as best he could without removing the hubs, and put them on. That is above and beyond the call of duty - and he wouldnt let me pay for them. That never happens. When I got to my home town I went to the one gas station in town that supplies non-ethanol fuel to fill up the 27 gallon tank ... and managed to squeeze 0.3 gallons in it. Matteson had filled the tank to the brim before the lake trial, I guess. That never happens, in my experience. I have always had to fill a practically empty tank in any new vehicles (cars, trucks, boats, mowers, etc.)I have bought in the past. So it was great service all around and I have nothing but positive recommendations for every department at Matteson Marine. Thanks Kyle, Vaughan and everyone who made my experience a real joy!

I've purchased several boats from them in the past, and Vaughn has always treated me right with a fair trade-in on my old one and with the price on a new one.

They stand behind what they sell too. I have never had to deal with their service department until recently. I called on a Tuesday and spoke with Russ about a problem that had developed with my trailer on a rig I purchased from them almost a year and a half ago. He told me I could bring it by on Saturday for them to look at. I thought I would just be dropping off the boat for them to work on and pick it up in a week or so. Instead, Chris their service tech had me pull the boat into the garage right then and there, removed the tire, replaced the wheel bearing seal, put everything back together, and had me heading back home in less than an hour, and no charge! Now that's customer service.

Just bought a boat from the guys at Matteson's at the Grand Rapids Boat Show. We saw a lot of boats and talked to a lot of different dealers, but we kept coming back to Matteson Marine and the South Bay Pontoon. They were very helpful and knowledgable. In April 2018 my brother and I had a boating accident and my boat was significantly damaged. The marina I originally bought my Aluma Craft from advised they it was their busy time and they did not have time to even look at my boat. So I looked on the internet and found Matteson Marine . I called and spoke with the service manager and he said it was their. busy time as well but to bring it in and they would look at it. I drove approx 80 miles to Matteson Marine and the Service Mgr and a couple of other gentlemen looked at the damage as well as took pictures. It was explained to me they would send the pics off to Aluma Craft to see if the boat could be repaired. A week later I was notified by Mattesons advising me the boat was not repairable. After dealing with the insurance company I picked out a new Aluma Craft they rigged it with my outboard and electronics and this all took approx 4-5 weeks which I thought was fast for them being as busy as they were. With all this said Matteson's Marine has my business from now on . The 80 mile drive is well worth the trip.. Thank You Matteson Marine!

Wow what a great boat . The SouthBay 522RS Orr tube was a great choice. Kyle did an amazing job helping me pick out the boat and colors Kyle you were right on. In 35 years Ive purchased 6 boats from Matteson Marine, never a slightest hint of being dissatisfied in any way. A couple warranty issues here and there handled promptly. They are the example of what a private small business can and should be. They have become very valued friends over the years and I know if I show up at break time Im more than welcome to pull up a chair, pour myself a cup and have a homemade pastry, and I do!

Last year Kevin and Kyle literally spend hours out on the lake resolving problems with a fish finder that I purchased somewhere else! How many dealerships would do that?

We purchased a 522CR South Bay Pontoon Boat with a 60 HP Mercury engine in May of 2012 from Matteson Marine on Gun Lake. These folks were wonderful to deal with, very honest, and know there product well. They even delivered the boat to Hess Lake in Newaygo County, almost 70 miles one way, and explained everything during a trip around the lake.

I would recommend these folks to anyone thinking of buying any type of watercraft.
